The Making of a Dye Transfer…

Dye-transfer is a full-color photographic print process favored by American photographer William Eggleston.

Guy Stricherz and Irene Malli have printed Eggleston’s works for the last twenty-five years. Eggleston’s discovery of the dye-transfer process in the 1970s was crucial to his move from primarily working in black-and-white to producing color photographs. This film was produced on the occasion of William Eggleston: The Last Dyes, which was on view at David Zwirner Los Angeles from November 16th, 2024–February 1st, 2025.
