“ROCKING CHAIR” by Susana Fabiani (Argentine, b. Buenos Aires), c.1970s, signed & numbered offset print 26×20″ (image 22×16), ed.145/500.

ROCKING CHAIR is a signed limited edition offset print by Susana Fabiani depicting an intimate domestic moment rendered in soft pastel tones, blending figurative tenderness with lyrical realism.

Artwork Description

ROCKING CHAIR is a limited edition offset lithographic print by Argentine artist Susana Fabiani, produced circa the 1970s and published by Mitch Morse Gallery, New York. The composition portrays a serene, contemplative scene of a seated woman and child on a veranda, surrounded by soft foliage and distant landscape. The rocking chair serves as both a compositional anchor and a symbolic element—suggesting rest, motherhood, and quiet continuity.

Fabiani’s delicate handling of color, light, and gesture reflects her training in fine arts, theatre, and design. The palette is muted and atmospheric, with translucent washes reminiscent of watercolor, translated here through offset printing to preserve tonal subtlety. The image balances narrative intimacy with formal elegance, characteristic of Fabiani’s figurative work during her mature period.

The print measures 26 × 20 inches overall, with an image area of approximately 22 × 16 inches, and is signed and numbered 145/500 in pencil. The work is unmatted, never framed, and never displayed, with the image area in very good, frameable vintage condition.
