“Windswept” by William Omurcada (b. 1947), 1981 hand-pulled serigraph on paper, signed & numbered 17/290, 26×40 inches
Vintage William Omurcada “Windswept” serigraph – expressive treeline silhouettes against a luminous dusk sky, hand-pulled limited edition print signed and numbered 17/290, a classic example of American modern landscape serigraphy.
Artwork Description
“Windswept” presents a dramatic stand of trees bent and animated by unseen forces, their branching forms silhouetted against a softly graduated sky that shifts from warm rose and amber tones to cool blue-gray above. Omurcada captures motion through the irregular contours of the foliage and the rhythmic sway implied in the trunks, translating the sensation of wind into a visually poetic composition. The layered serigraphic technique produces subtle texture in the sky while preserving crisp definition in the dark foreground forms. The composition balances energy and stillness, with the trees acting as graphic anchors against an expansive atmospheric backdrop. Printed on archival paper, the sheet measures approximately 26 × 40 inches. The lower margin bears the artist’s hand-written title “Windswept,” signature, date, and edition number 17/290 in pencil, confirming authenticity and limited-edition status. The work exemplifies Omurcada’s ability to merge natural observation with abstraction, creating landscape imagery that feels both immediate and contemplative.
